  3. You will need to remain in our office for a mandatory 30 minute monitoring period following your allergy injection.

**Remember to inform the doctor administering your immunotherapy of any new medications prescribed for heart or blood pressure. Some of these medications may interfere or potentiate with any therapy needed for an allergic reaction**

  • No exercise for 24 hours after your injection.

  • Note any side effects and contact us if you feel sick or develop any allergic reactions in anyway after your injection.

POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS

  • Local allergic swelling and itching over injection sites (expected 99+% of the time).

  • Systemic allergic reactions that may include generalized hives, nausea/vomiting and possible dizziness (less than 1%).

  • Systemic reactions may progress to involve respiratory symptoms, including throat tightening, cough, wheeze, and shortness of breath (less than 0.5% of the time). Pre-treatment with anti-histamines may reduce or prevent these reactions.

  • There have been fatalities reported after allergen immunotherapy. The incidence is extremely rare, 1 in 2.5 million injections, and most often seen in patients who have active/moderate asthma.
